Under the Hood with Tyson Moore

At Hagerty, our people are just as passionate about collector vehicles as the clients and brokers we work with every day.

This month, we're introducing Tyson Moore, Territory Manager for British Columbia. Based in Kamloops, Tyson has spent the past seven years helping brokers grow their collector vehicle business while supporting enthusiasts across the province.

Meet Tyson

  • Role: Territory Manager – British Columbia
  • Department: Canada Field Team
  • Location: Kamloops, British Columbia
  • Years with Hagerty: 7
  • Favourite Vehicles: 1966 Chevrolet Caprice and Audi R8

A Passion Built Through Family

Ask Tyson about his favourite collector vehicle, and he'll give you two answers.

The first is a 1966 Chevrolet Caprice that he shares with his dad. While it's a classic in its own right, it's the memories they've made restoring and driving it together that make it special.

His second choice is the Audi R8. He's always appreciated its performance, the Quattro all-wheel-drive system, and its unmistakable styling.

Building Relationships with Brokers

For Tyson, strong broker relationships come down to one thing: trust.

He believes the best partnerships are built when everyone is working toward the same goal—helping clients find the right protection for their collector vehicles. When brokers know they can rely on Hagerty for support and expertise, it makes those conversations with clients even easier.

More Than Collector Plates

One misconception Tyson hears from time to time is that Hagerty only insures collector-plated vehicles.

In reality, Hagerty can insure vehicles with a variety of plate types, including vehicles that are under restoration and not yet ready for the road. Knowing this can help brokers identify opportunities they may have otherwise overlooked.

Helping Brokers Highlight Savings

Part of Tyson's role is making sure brokers know about Hagerty program updates that can benefit their clients.

A recent update to the Hagerty program in British Columbia introduced new pricing for qualifying Collector and Vintage plated vehicles. By entering the correct registration type, mileage, and modification details during the quoting process, eligible vehicles automatically receive the preferred rating where applicable (approximately a 10% reduction in the Hagerty premium).

It's a simple change that can help brokers identify savings opportunities while ensuring clients receive the specialized collector vehicle coverage that's right for them.

What Tyson Wants Brokers to Remember

Tyson hopes brokers remember the Hagerty team as approachable, knowledgeable, and ready to help.

Most of all, he wants brokers to feel confident that when they recommend Hagerty, they're helping their clients protect the vehicles they care about most.

The Takeaway

Whether he's talking about a family project car or helping a broker find the right solution for a client, Tyson's approach is the same: build relationships, share knowledge, and support the collector vehicle community.

That's what Hagerty is all about.
